LONGMONT — John Boltrucyk can’t wait to take possession of his new bike. It’s a yellow, iGo Electric Titan with RockShox forks, dual suspension, front and rear disc brakes and a 36-volt lithium polymer battery.
It’s essentially an electric mountain bike.
“As I get older I find I can’t ride as far as I’d like to and this will help me out with that,” said Boltrucyk, who will turn 64 this year. “(On Rollins Pass), to go from the Moffat Tunnel to Winter Park, that’s 29 miles. I can’t ride that far anymore. But with this I can, and I will.”
Small Planet E-Vehicles typically sees two types of customers, according to owner Tom Wilson, and Boltrucyk’s story is very typical.
“Baby boomers and commuters — those are our two biggest (types of customers),” Wilson said.
